Privacy notice
You do not need an account to use this site, and it does not ask for your personal details. Analytics runs only if you accept it.

Who runs this site
Sikh History is run by Indy.inc in the United Kingdom. For any question about privacy or your information, email Indybains@icloud.com.
Google Analytics, only if you accept
If you accept the banner, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. We rely on your consent for this, and we do not use it to try to identify you.
Google then collects the pages you view, how far you scroll, links you follow to other sites, file downloads and video plays, along with your device and browser type, your approximate location and how you reached the site.
It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_YL5W872GD5, which can last up to two years. Google advertising features are turned off. Search pages are not tracked, and search terms are not collected.
Our settings keep event data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months, a period that restarts if you return. Google may process this data outside the UK, including in the United States. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your choice
If you decline, Google Analytics does not load and no analytics cookies are set. Your browser stores your choice under the name analytics-consent, so that you are not asked on every page. It is not sent to us.
You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of each page. If you withdraw consent, we remove the analytics cookies from your browser.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services. To deliver each page, Amazon handles your IP address and the details of your request. We have not turned on access logs, so we do not keep a record of these requests. We rely on our legitimate interest in running the site securely.
Site search
Search runs in your browser. Your search term appears in the page address, so Amazon receives it as part of the request, but we do not keep it.
Maps
Pages with a map load their map images directly from OpenStreetMap, whatever you choose in the banner, so the OpenStreetMap Foundation receives your IP address and details of the images requested. We rely on our legitimate interest in showing these maps. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
If you email us
We receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use them only to reply.
Links to other sites
Sources and references link to other websites, which have their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, ask us to limit how we use it, object to its use, and ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Analytics data carries no name, so we may not be able to match it to you. To make a request, email us at the address above.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
