As the Encyclopaedia reports the Sikh tradition, Jahangir became friendly to Guru Ji, had Chandu Shah arrested and gave him up to Guru Ji's custody. Angry Sikhs who remembered what had been done to Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji dragged him through the streets of Lahore. The last blow is said to have come from the man whom Chandu had once made to pour hot sand on Guru Ji's father.

How do we know?

Several traditional accounts tell this story, without close independent support.

No outside source read for this page mentions this. The same applies to Chandu's role in the first place.
