The Kartarpur settlement
Founding Kartarpur
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji settled at a new village on the Ravi, on land given by a devoted follower.

The Janamsakhis, as summarised by McLeod, tell of a rich official who set out to seize Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji for leading people astray. On the way he was struck blind and suffered other troubles, and he came instead as a follower, and gave the land on which the village rose with a dharamsala. McLeod sets aside the miracles, and keeps the gift.
