The Encyclopaedia of Sikhism (1992-98) says it seems to have been destroyed in a quarrel over who owned it, in 1923. Its text survives through Macauliffe's lithograph edition of 1885.

Gurmukh Singh of Oriental College, Lahore, found it and lent it to Macauliffe. The Hafizabad entry dates the discovery to 1884.
