Hill fortress used by the Mughals as a state prison. Sri Guru Hargobind Ji was detained here by Jahangir. Accounts of the dates differ widely, and the Encyclopaedia of Sikhism estimates a few months between 1617 and 1619. By tradition, Guru Ji secured the release of 52 imprisoned princes on leaving (Gurdwara Data Bandi Chhor).[EoS]
