Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib
The gurdwara marking the martyrdom of the two younger sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Sirhind, in December 1705.
History
- December 1705
The martyrdom
After the evacuation of Anandpur, Mata Gujri and the young Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh were separated from Guru Ji and betrayed to the authorities. Wazir Khan, the faujdar of Sirhind, had the boys executed. The Encyclopaedia's entries on them date this to 12 December 1705.[EoS][EoS][EoS]
- 1710 onward
Later history
Banda Singh Bahadur took Sirhind on 14 May 1710, and Wazir Khan was killed. Local priests managed the gurdwaras for over a century, until a committee of custodians formed in 1906.[EoS]
